C-motech U-301, the Sprint 3G CDMA/4G WiMAX U301 USB Modem

In July WiMAXian featured C-motech CMU-301 earned WiMAX Forum Certification for dual mode CDMA/WiMAX USB modem.

Recently C-motech released a dual mode ‘U-301′ USB modem that supports 3G CDMA EVDO Rev A and mobile WiMAX Wave 2.

A C-motech staff member said “C-motech will supply ‘U-301′ to Sprint from December.

The U301 apparently will provided by Franklin Wireless Corp which has facility in San Diego, California but for manufacturing of the Franklin’s products has been contracted out to C-motech Co. Ltd., located in South Korea.

CLEAR Goes Live in Chicago

Chicago has long-awaited the launch of a WiMAX network. In 2007, Clearwire and Sprint agreed jointly to build a nationwide network, with Chicago getting the service as early as 2008. The Clearwire-Sprint deal fell apart at the end of 2007, but the two companies merged their wireless broadband units into a new entity in 2008.

Time Warner to Offer CLEAR WiMAX with Cable to Dallas Customers on December 1

The biggest factors influence where Clearwire target for next WiMAX rollouts will be Clearwire’s investor group  which are Comcast, Time Warner, Google, and Intel, accoording to John Storch, the vice president of network deployment at Clearwire.

So obviously that’s the reason why Comcast bundling WiMAX with cable to Portland customers and recently Time Warner Cable officially announced will become CLEAR reseller and bundling with the company’s existing broadband, TV and VoIP services and expected to start in Dallas on December 1.

BanglaLion to Introduce WiMAX Commercially by December

It’s been eight months since WiMAXian featured BanglaLion to launch WiMAX services in Dhaka Bangladesh by June. Many WiMAXian visitors complained about BangaLion’s WiMAX speed and time to market.

Bdnews24 and the Daily Star recently reported that BanglaLion Communications both launched experimental WiMAX operations and a roadshow to make people aware of the high-speed internet.

Comcast Currently Testing WiMAX Femtocell

It’s been eight months since we first knew  that Comcast was going to provide Femtocell for its mobile WiMAX deployments in order to expand its business as CLEAR reseller.
According to Stephen Burke, Chief Operating Officer at Comcast, the company will buy the service wholesale from Clearwire and resell it under the Comcast brand name , likely bundled with Comcast’s cable TV, phone and home Internet services.
