Yota Egg is Powered by GCT’s GDM7205 Mobile WiMAX Single-chip Solution

Start from October 7 the portable WiMAX/WiFi router “Yota Egg” was available for Yota.You have to spend 5990 Rub (incl. VAT) or ~$200.

The Yota Egg is manufactured by interbro, a leading Korean manufacturer, and is the first router to allow users of WiFi-enabled devices such as notebooks, iPhones and VoIP phones, to connect to a WiMAX network instantly, without the use of a WiMAX USB Dongle or modem.

Recently GCT Semiconductor announced that the Yota Egg is powered by GCT’s GDM7205 Mobile WiMAX 2.5 GHz Wave 2 single-chip solution.

The GCT’s GDM7205 is the industry’s first Mobile WiMAX 2.5 GHz Wave 2 single-chip solution which integrates RF, MAC and PHY, all into one monolithic integrated circuit. The GDM7205 reference design demonstrates the high performance, compact size and low power consumption attributes of a  GDM7205-based Mobile WiMAX Subscriber Station.

The GCT’s GDM7205 won the WiMAX Live Low Power Chipset Shootout at WiMAX World 2008 in the USB dongle category. Also GCT’s GDM7205 already got certified by WiMAX Forum on 25 Aug 2008.

Actually UQ WiMAX devices which were both WiMAX USB type UD01SS and WiMAX Express card type UD02SS also powered by GCT’s GDM7205.

UQ Communications also showcased the portable WiMAX/WiFi router called “EGG”(iWWR-1000J) with white and pink color option at CEATEC JAPAN 2009. This “EGG” made by interbro and already available for WiBro and Yota.
