NEC Aterm WM3300R, Portable Palm-sized WiMAX/WiFi Router

NEC recently announced NEC Aterm WM3300R ( model name PA-WM3300R ),a palm-size WiMAX/WiFi router for UQ WiMAX in Japan.

Actually UQ WiMAX showcased WM3300R several times at CEATEC JAPAN 2009,WIRELESS JAPAN 2009, and INTEROP TOKYO 2009.

It’s so small, just a palm-size, approximately 94×67× 22 mm, about 145g. You can compare it with Yota Egg or WiBro Egg.

The unique selling point of NEC Aterm WM3300R which can stay up for about 2.5 hours but if the battery runs out you can simply plug in to your PC’s USB port and can be used as a USB WiMAX modem. NEC also provide additional battery pack ( model name PA-WM01B ) for back up.

NEC Aterm WM3300R also has five LED lamps which are indicator for Power, WLAN, Battery,WiMAX and Signal Strength.

It’s already support the latest Windows 7 but unfortunately not for Mac OS X.

NEC plan to release in early November in Japan for an estimated ¥25,000 or around $272.
