The New Intel Centrino’s Wireless Product Get Certified from WiMAX Forum
As part of Intel’s new brand structure, the Centrino processor technology brand will be retired for PCs beginning next year. However, Centrino has tremendous equity as a wireless technology, so Intel will transition the name to become the new name for Intel’s WiFi and WiMAX wireless product lines beginning in 2010.
So as the new Intel Core processor family enter the markets, the Intel Centrino name will evolve away from a brand for PC systems to represent the best Intel has to offer in WiFi and WiMAX connections.
Recently WiMAX Forum certified the new Intel WiMAX/WiFi module which named Intel Centrino Advanced-N+ WiMAX 6250.

Intel Centrino WiMAX 6250 is a 2X2 MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) and 1×2 array(one transmit, two pick-ups antenna) same as the predecessor Intel WiMAX/Wi-Fi Link 5150.
The Intel Centrino WiMAX 6250 comes with PCIe Minicard (MC), we don’t have any information wheter Intel will provide Half-mini card (HMC) version or not.
This new wireless network adapter supporting IEEE 802.16e in the 2.5 GHz ,3.5GHz and 2.3GHz – BW: 5 & 10MHz for mobile WiMAX and 802.11a/b/g/n in the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz spectra for WiFi.

In addition Intel also get certification from WiMAX Forum for Intel® Wireless Multiconnection MWM3280.
This is a multi mode wireless network with 1X2 MIMO module, supporting IEEE 802.16e 2.5 GHz and 3.5GHz for mobile WiMAX – BW: 5, 7, 8.75 & 10MHz and 802.11a/b/g/n in the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz for WiFi as well as Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and GPS.
Congratulation for Intel who has Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 get certified from WiMAX Forum on 14 July 2009 with Certification Number: 01-0000000082 and Intel® Wireless Multiconnection MWM3280 with Certification Number: 01-0000000081.
There are no word about price and availability.Hopefully we will see Intel WiMAX-enabled notebook/netbook more cheaper in the future.
See the WiMAX Forum certifications.
