COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2009 : WiMAX Highlights Photos
WiMAX has become the main theme of COMPUTEX TAIPEI since 2008. The theme of the event in 2009 is WiMAX on the Move. It presents three features, Innovation, Leap, and Launch.
All the latest innovative WiMAX products such as WiMAX-embedded Notebooks and Netbooks, the smallest and lightest WiMAX MIDs, the unique WiMAX TV dongle, and other WiMAX-related products are in WiMAX Taipei 2009.
Thus it is divided into four areas, which are the WiMAX Applications Area, the WiMAX Components, the WiMAX System Products Area, and the WiMAX Testing Area.
2009 is the year Taiwan’s operators launch commercial WiMAX services. These include VMAX, Vee Telecom, TATUNG InfoComm, and Global Mobile, and they will be demonstrating their diverse WiMAX application services to the public for the first time.TATUNG InfoComm is the first commercial WiMAX provider that operate in Penghu Island.
Taiwan has developed a complete WiMAX ecosystem, chipset, CPE, network elements,system integration,applications and commercial operations.

In addition, this year Intel showcased the amazing connectivity of different mobile devices. Two Mobile Travelers holding MIDs will roam around TWTC Hall 1, and transmit real-time video via webcam to Intel’s booths both in Hall 1 and the Nangang Exhibition Hall. Highlights from Intel include WiMAX-embedded Notebooks and Netbooks. All these devices come with built-in Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5050 series modules that can let you have unprecedented Internet surfing through WiMAX.

Many WiMAX devices were displayed for example ECS U170/171 WiMAX/GSM USB Dongle Phone and Accton Wireless Broadband (AWB) RG230-2.5 Multi-user Indoor WiMAX CPE.


Motorola USBw25100 made in China, exactly by Taiwan OEM/ODM Company named Quanta Microsystems, Inc. Apparently CLEAR USB Modem, aerea USB Dongle, Tatung USB Dongle were developed by the same company.Quanta Microsystems is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quanta Computer Inc which known as One Laptop per Child (OLPC) maker.Quanta Microsystem Inc manufactured of USB Dongle for Motorola and Alcatel Lucent.

Mediatek GSM+WiMAX dual-mode mobile phone prototype which presumably powered by Mediatek M7118 System-on-Chip for the most cost effective WiMAX+GSM device.

The M0 is a WiMAX-enabled MID by Dmedia. It’s presumably the commercial stage of Dmedia G400 that expected coming early 2009.The OS is Windows CE 6.0 R2. Powered by Samsung-made ARM architecture CPU (533 ~ 800MHz) with large display 4.3 inches (800 × 480).

The IDV-230G/ 250G/ 350G series of 802.16e Wave2 VoIP Gateways is manufacturer by Gemtek which is one of the largest providers of WiMAX CPE and base stations in Taiwan with exports to all over the world.Gemtek also provided WiMAX CPE products for Green Packet.

Comsys Communication & Signal Processing Ltd is a manufaturer of mobile WiMAX/cellular dual module chipsets that provide both broadband wireless access via WiMAX and cellular phone connection.The ComMAX™ CM1125 is Multimode Mobile WiMAX/GSM/EDGE baseband processor which developed by Comsys Mobile to provide users with the ultimate mobile internet experience.

The U120 by MSI is a netbook PC that is WiMAX enabled. Due to a greater efficiency of the next generation WiMAX modules, even netbooks can now enjoy the wireless mobility provided by WiMAX technology.

Intel displayed Fujitsu Lifebook P8020 which already announced in the beginning of 2009. It will support WiMAX connectivity courtesy of Clearwire.
COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2009 was held on June 2-6,2009.There were over 1,700 exhibitors and 4,600 booths.It was the largest show in Asia, world’s leading ICT event and now you can enjoy WiMAX highlights photos.
