Samsung SCH-M830 Available as SK Telecom WiMAX+WCDMA Smartphone
Another WiMAX phone available in WiMAX industry not only HTC MAX 4G from Yota, Russia. Also the affordable ECS U71 eMAX which spotted at CTIA 2009.
Recently SK Telecom the leading mobile operator in Korea announced the Samsung SCH-M830 its first smartphone supporting WiBro the Korean versions of mobile WiMAX service.
Actualy the Samsung SCH-M830 and Samsung SWD-M100 Mondi were spotted at MWC 2009.We featured them both with hands on video.
The SCH-M830 WiMAX+WCDMA smartphone, named “WiBro Phone”, features a 3.3-inch (480x 800) full touch-screen,smaller screen size than Samsung SWD-M100 Mondi,with an ‘Omnia’ user interface based on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
The SCH-M830 equipped with dual camera (3M + 0.3M pixel) for videophone via internet,internal 2GB memory, and GPS. Also available Bluetooth and Micro SD slot . The biggest issue of dual mode multimedia mobile device will be the battery capacity. Samsung SCH-M830 apparently has the answer with a big1500mAh battery capacity for longer usage.
Users are able to make voice calls through the WCDMA network while connecting to wireless Internet via the WiBro network or WCDMA network, depending on the network environment, SK Telecom said. SK Telecom’s WiBro service coverage is limited in parts of Seoul and some metropolitan cities. But the region outside the subway were available since June in Seongnam, Goyang, Incheon, Bucheon, Gwangmyeong, Anyang, Gwacheon.WiBro coverage will be extended to Gunpo, Uiwang, Suwon area.
Apparently this iPhone contender will give SK Telecom’s WiBro subscriber more choice to enjoy mobile WiMAX in Korea.
