Clearwire and Cisco Join to Enhance and Expand CLEAR WiMAX Services Throughout the U.S.
After two months in the process of selecting vendors, finally Clearwire choose Cisco as technology partner to enhance and expand Clear WiMAX services throughout the U.S.
Clearwire listed a few dozen cities for 2009, including Seattle (Clearwire is headquartered in nearby Kirkland), Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Philadelphia. In 2010, Boston, Houston, New York City, and the San Francisco Bay Area will be among those markets getting WiMAX.
Today Clearwire and Cisco announced that Clearwire has selected Cisco as its national Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network (IP NGN) core infrastructure provider, and Cisco has announced plans to build new mobile WiMAX devices for the CLEAR 4G mobile WiMAX service for the consumer, small office or home office (SOHO), and small- and medium-sized business (SMB) markets.
In addition, Cisco is aiming to introduce its first mobile WiMAX device later this year.
CLEAR WiMAX service available now in Atlanta,GA presumably will launch officially on June 1st.
CLEAR also utilized Voice Adapter apparently Linksys PAP2T Internet Phone Adapter (by Cisco System) for CLEAR Voice service .This internet phone adapter enables high-quality feature-rich VoIP (voice over IP) service over CLEAR WiMAX network.

Cisco has good reputation in Russia, that’s why Cisco’s WiMAX solution continued implemented from Moscow and St. Petersburg to Georgia and Kazakhstan.
WiMAX is IP (Internet Protocol) based so no wonder Clearwire selected Cisco as the primary IP network solution provider for Clearwire’s 4G network. With more than 80,000 nodes installed throughout the U.S.
Hopefully Cisco’s powerful combination of intelligence and performance brings Clearwire closer to their customers by enabling a tailored experience with personalized services to their end users.
