WIMAXian (W) : What is the latest MOTOwi4 WiMAX solutions showcased at WiMAX Asia Congress 09 ?
Eric Starnes (ES) We are showcasing several of our WiMAX Forum Certified 802.16e products including 2 customer premises equipment devices, CPEi25150 and award-winning CPEi25750, and another award-winning USBw100 dongle.

We’re also showcasing the latest WiMAX Access Point WAP 25450 on the market.
Motorola is experiencing solid traction in this sector, and as of Dec. 31, 2008, Motorola had shipped more than 6,600 3-sector and 4-sector access points and more than 360,000 CPEs and USB broadband modems. The wi4 WiMAX solutions enable service providers to blend their traditional lines of business and position themselves to deliver full suites of voice, video and data wirelessly to fixed, portable and mobile users.
W : Can you explain more about IPTV over WiMAX demo ?
ES : The demonstration realizes Motorola’s media mobility vision where content is delivered over WiMAX to personal consumer electronic devices such as laptop computers and other handheld devices. Visitors at the Motorola booth will experience the demonstration of sharing content from the IPTV set top box which transcodes the HD content to a format that suits the mobile environment. The content is then delivered over WiMAX to a WiMAX-enabled device, anytime and anywhere. Motorola is in a unique leadership position for set-top box, video and content delivery.

W: Indonesia government unofficially announced that 2.3 GHz auction winner obligate to utilize at least 30% local content for Sub Station and 40% for Base Station as standard in WiMAX Indonesia. Motorola has done initial deployment collaborations with PT.CSM. What’s your comment ?
ES : Motorola is a long-term partner on standards development with the Indonesian government and relevant operators. Motorola will continue sharing information with the Indonesian government to provide support for the development of WiMAX infrastructure in the nation. We respect and support the actions of the government and its related agencies, working towards technology neutrality to further facilitate economic development which at the end of the day, is the main goal for the government.
W: What will Motorola do if PT.CSM becomes the winner of 2.3GHz WiMAX Indonesia auction ? Will Motorola open an interoperability Testing (IOT) lab for 802.16e-based WiMAX technology in Indonesia ? Just like Morotora did last year in Taiwan.
ES : CSM is an important player in Indonesia and we are not in a position to comment on the auction but Motorola definitely supports the guidelines and stipulations made by the government. With regard to the question on the IOT lab, Motorola made headway into the Taiwan market because of the wealth of manufacturing available there. Motorola definitely encourages Indonesian manufacturers to come to Taiwan to get their certification at our IOT lab based there.
