CTIA 2009 : ECS U71 eMAX, WiMAX Phones with USB Modem Port
Previously we featured that ECS U71 eMAX will be displayed at MWC 2009 booth at Comsys Mobile’s booth and ECS EliteGroup’s booth. But we didn’t get any information regarding this world’s first 2in1 WiMAX USB modem and mobile phone at MWC 2009.

The latest information we got that ECS U71 eMAX spotted in the Comsys Mobile’s booth at CTIA 2009.
The ECS U71 eMAX utilize the Comsys Mobile ComMAX CM1125 single-chip multimode mobile WiMAX/GSM-EDGE baseband processor. The phone will carry a full USB port that slides out, enabling direct connection to a computer. Once connected, the phone can continue to receive calls over the WiMAX network, and feeds internet to the computer simultaneously.

The ECS U170 eMax is expected to be commercially available early in May 2009, and ECS will be supplying the device to several WiMAX providers in Taiwan as well as promoting it to WiMAX provider elsewhere in Asia, USA and emerging markets.
Could it be Tatung Infocomm provide ECS U170 eMax as their WiMAX gear ? Tatung will start WiMAX services in Taiwan on April 27.
