CTIA 2009 : Samsung Mondi WiMAX-enabled MID Official Specs and Video
Recently we shared the unannounced SWD-M100 ‘Mondi’ WiMAX-enabled MID from Samsung become CLEAR WiMAX gear soon.
Samsung officially launch Samsung Mondi WiMAX-enabled MID at CTIA 2009, Las Vegas. The touch screen Mondi, which takes its name from the Latin word for “world,” is designed for use with the CLEAR mobile WiMAX service from Clearwire.
Samsung confidently stated “Samsung Mobile Launches First WiMAX-Enabled Mobile Internet Device” as title of press release.

These are the official specifications :
- 4.3-inch touch screen
- Windows Mobile 6.1
- Microsoft Outlook and Windows Mobile Office
- WiMAX Mobile Internet Access
- WiFi Access (BTv2.1+EDR)
- GPS: Route 66 Navigation with Preloaded Maps

Samsung and CLEAR have not announced it’s prices nor availability.
Samsung Mondi looks alike Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition and I think Nokia designed is much better with two-tone colour. Also Samsung seems confused to place “Internet Explore” button since they said “Mondi packs a full-featured web browser, powered by Opera 9.5″

There is no information what kind WiMAX chipset in Samsung Mondi. Presumably it was Samsung CMC-730 Mobile WiMAX chipset, the same chipset utilized in Samsung SWC-U200 WIMAX USB Modem.
Watch this video to have an idea how good GUI of Samsung Mondi.
