REDtone to Expand to Tawau in Sabah and Miri in Sarawak in 2009
REDtone’s WiMAX services in Malaysia now blankets cities like Kuching in Sarawak and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.
REDtone International Bhd plans to invest up to RM20 million to expand its high-speed Internet access coverage this year, said its top official.
“We have secured the necessary funding from financial institutions. We have zero (debt), and our track record is very good,” said chief executive officer Zainal Amanshah after the company’s shareholders’ meeting in Petaling Jaya.
REDtone plans to expand in more cities like Tawau in Sabah and Miri in Sarawak in 2009 according to Zainal.
REDtone spending for Internet services using WiMAX technology may seem small compared with rival P1 WiMAX budget of RM1 billion over three to five years.
As we knew that REDtone’s rival plans to accelerate the expansion of the nation’s largest WiMAX network, Malaysia’s first and leading WiMAX provider Packet One Networks Sdn Bhd will collaborate with ZTE Corporation.
