Recently UQ Communications Inc. launched mobile WiMAX service in Japan. They will start trial WiMAX service on February 26th cover up Tokyo (23 wards),Yokohama, and Kawasaki.

A high-speed mobile Internet service will be provided under the brand UQ WiMAX, using global-standard mobile WiMAX IEEE 802.16e on 2.5GHz frequency band. Boasting speeds of 40Mbps on the downlink, 10Mbps uplink.

In conjunction with the start of UQ WiMAX service on February 26, 2009, UQ Communications Inc. released four data communication cards that support UQ WiMAX, enabling customers to utilize mobile data communication in their PC environment.

Here they are :
1. WiMAX USB type UD01SS, the smallest and lightest weight Mobile WiMAX USB modem available in Japan today.

Both WiMAX USB type UD01SS and WiMAX Express card type UD02SS powered by GCT’s GDM7205.
