EyeWiMAX Debut in Manchester: The First WiMAX Service in the UK
Manchester has become the first city in the UK to deploy WiMAX service in the 3.6 GHz band and implement technology from Airspan. The reason why Manchester has choosen because market already exist and size of the city was perfect for WiMAX deployment better than London for example.
The new WiMAX provider called EyeWiMAX claimed already has 75% WiMAX coverage within the city center.
Now only available for fixed WiMAX but fortunately with the Airspan technolgy it can be upgraded to the 802.16e Mobile WiMAX in the future without any hardware change.
Chriss Bretten from EyeWiMAX said,
“It’s cost-effective and up to four times faster than the broadband through a phone line.”
Even EyeWiMAX connection is up to 8 times faster upload speed than ADSL according EyeWiMAX official website www.eyewimax.com
EyeWiMAX provide various monthly service plan from £19.99 until £195.00. The best performance is UltiMAX packet which provide 4MB download speed and 4MB upload speed with unlimited gigabyte usage per month.

On this launching period time EyeWiMAX coverage map are around Manchester, Milton Keynes and Warwick area and will expand in the near future.
