Modacom KWD-U2000, The First Mac Friendly USB WiMAX Modem

When I knew Zatz use his MacBook Pro for access XOHM in DC,I was very excited. I ask him where he got the Mac’s driver for his USB WiMAX modem. He said that there is no driver for Mac yet. He run Windows for acces XOHM on his MacBook Pro. That was sad :-(

Another USB device which utilize for access Clear WiMAX in Portland, Motorola USBw100 seems doesn’t compatible with Mac OS X either.

And suddenly there is a good news comes from Korea.

A Korean blogger “Technomad in Seoul” reported that KT, Korean company service for WiBro (WiMAX in Korea) has released Mac friendly USB WiMAX Modem : Modacom KWD-U2000.

He rushed to KT office, long queued, purchase price KRW 97,000 (around $70), downloaded the driver from KT’s Wibro website. And what did he get ? Voila..He had WiBro internet access on his MacBook Pro. Congratulation !

Later on he try to share the WiBro connection with other devices through Airport.Nice try…keep posting bro !

WiBro offer Modacom KWD-U2000 in White and Black Color, utilize 8.75MHz bandwidth, maximum speed 30Mbps (download), 6Mbps (upload), support Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista 32Mbit and Mac OS X 10.4/10.5

I guess this is a good news for Mac lover. Just like Yota cooperate with Samsung offering SWC-U200 USB WiMAX modem for Yota user. Or Motorola offer Motorola USBw100 for Clear user . Probably Clear or XOHM can make the same kind cooperation with Modacom to supply Mac friendly USB WiMAX modem in the near future.
