Italy’s AriaDSL Pointed Alcatel-Lucent as Prime Supplier for Mobile WiMAX Network

Mauritanian’s Chinguitel joined with China’s ZTE to build the first major commercial WiMAX network across the entire African continent. Recently WiMAX deployment went to Europe by landed at Italy.Italy move another step to implement commercial WiMAX network.Earlier this year, AriaDSL won 3.5 GHz radio spectrum in all regions of Italy.In July, AriaDSL and Intel announced a collaboration to bring WiMAX to Italy.  The agreement merges the organizations’ experience of network deployment, marketing and operations and will include interoperability testing, verification as well as co-marketing.  Intel will also share experience from WiMAX rollouts in other countries.

Recently AriaDSL has pointed Alcatel-Lucent as prime supplier for building and maintaining a nationwide broadband wireless network based on mobile WiMAX (802.16e-2005) technology.Alcatel-Lucent will install the first 130 base station sites in the Puglia and Veneto regions.  AriaDSL plans to provide municipalities, businesses and residential users with high-speed Internet access in addition to advanced broadband multimedia services, such as video streaming.  A second phase of the project will introduce voice over IP (VoIP) and virtual private network (VPN) services.Upon completion, the new network is expected to be one of the largest mobile WiMAX deployments in Europe.
